Breakside And Boneyard Turn 15!

Bring your friends and let's party! Breakside Brewery and Boneyard Beer are turning 15 this month. Literally they both opened their doors within days of each other! Wild! To celebrate this monumental occasion. Both breweries are setting off for a pub crawl. The first stop? Right here at Belmont Station.

Alongside the anniversary collab, we let both breweries pick out some of their beers to showcase on draft.

We will be featuring a ton of package beers from both as well in the bottle shop including Quince. So come be the first to try it and stay for a while as we party with both Breakside and Boneyard!

MORE ABOUT BREAKSIDE:

"Breakside Brewery opened in 2010 in Northeast Portland as a restaurant and pub brewery and has grown to be a highly regarded regional brewery producing 30,000 barrels annually. The brewery is known for its broad portfolio of award-winning, innovative beers. In 2013, Breakside expanded operations to Milwaukie, OR with a production facility and taproom capable of producing 40,000 barrels of beer per year. Today, Breakside operates five locations in the Portland area as well as a taproom on the Oregon Coast in Astoria, Oregon. In 2019, Breakside became one of only a handful of employee-owned breweries in the country.

In addition to winning many national, international, and regional awards for its beers, Breakside was named Brewery of the Year in 2017 and 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 at the Oregon Beer Awards and the 2018 Best of Craft Beer Awards. Breakside sells beer on draft and in package in Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Northern California, British Columbia, Alberta and Japan."

MORE ABOUT BONEYARD:

"Most breweries start with a plan.

We started with some scrap metal (or what those larger breweries deemed as scrap). To us, with no balance in the bank account, we considered every chunk of scrap as gold.

Prior to churning out the first few batches in 2010, Tony amassed as much equipment as he could that other brewers had put out to pasture – all while he was consulting on brewhouse installations and projects around the world. Not that the equipment was bad, it was just no longer needed or did not fit in the new designs or installations these brewers were putting into service.

The quality of the equipment wasn’t where the importance lied, and still isn’t – it’s the quality of the beer you produce using that equipment.

Design/Cut/Weld/Fabricate was our means of making exactly what we needed to challenge any brewer in making some high quality liquids. We use a “unitank” style of brewing, which means the beer is never transferred, moved, beat up, or bruised in the process. A gentle transformation into a perfect beer without any of the complexities. And we’re still cranking away on the same equipment that we’ve kept in perfect running order, and made better over time.

“Clean, Balanced, Interesting” – Tony Lawrence"

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:

Breakside x Boneyard Quince - Anniversary IPA

Breakside Post Time - Kolsch

Breakside Western Harvest Time - IPA

Boneyard Boneafide - Pale ale

Boneyard Rebellious Intent - New Zealand lager

2025 Portland Cask Port!

  • Google Calendar ICS

The annual Portland Cask Port program is in full swing again. Our good friends at Away Days have teamed up again with a handful of business and breweries to bring Cask Ales to the forefront. You can grab your very own Cask Port at any participating business and collect a stamp at each one when you order a pint of cask beer. At the very end, we will host a closing party where you can claim some awesome prizes! Get those Cask Ports ready and enjoy the journey to some amazing cask beers at some truly legendary places!

WHAT IS CASK BEER?

"Unfiltered beer that is racked into casks, carbonated, sealed and then undergoes a slight final fermentation in the cask. Often finings (clarifying agents) will be added to help the beer drop bright—when yeast cells naturally flocculate (clump) and settle at the bottom of a vessel.

The net result is a beer that has a much gentler level of carbonation, a rounder mouthfeel, and since it is unfiltered, usually shows a slightly more complex flavor and aromatic profile. It is often slightly cloudy, and is best served at cellar temperature (around 55°F). It’s considered “live” beer since it is unfiltered and has live yeast in the cask (which is how we get the final fermentation and carbonation)."

Orval Day!

Belmont Station will be celebrating the annual Orval Day on Saturday March 22nd. On this day we will have Orval for sale in the shop as well as behind the bar. You can post up and enjoy the first Brett beer to hit the United States.

Each year on Orval Day, the importer Merchant du Vin donates a portion of Orval sales to a charity. Come enjoy one of these exquisite beers and help donate to a good cause.

The stories behind Orval and Orval Day are pretty amazing.

The Orval legend began almost 1,000 years ago, when a princess accidentally dropped her ring into a spring and a trout returned it. It continues now, with a day to reflect on and enjoy this amazing Trappist ale.

On Orval Day, devotees of Orval Trappist Ale – and some folks who maybe have not tried it yet – convene to celebrate one of the world’s unique and highly-respected beers.

Orval Trappist Ale has a sunset-orange color; a fruity and slightly acidic bouquet, firm body, profound hop bitterness, and long, dry finish. Orval is bottled with Brettanomyces, a yeast strain that leads to superb dry complexity and ageworthiness. It is brewed and bottle-conditioned at Abbaye Notre-Dame d’Orval, one of only 9 Trappist monasteries in the world that brew beer.

Some people have been known to age the beer as well and drink them in groups year by year.

No matter if you have had Orval before or not, come on down and celebrate with us on this amazing occasion.

Official Release of Breakside - Bayside IPA

The GOLD medal winning IPA from 2024's Oregon Beer Awards is making a comeback! And here at Belmont Station will be the first and only place for a little while to try it!

Join Belmont Station and Breakside for a night of exclusive beers and good times!

We will have Bayside IPA on draft and in cans. Belmont Station will be the only place you can try this beer for now so get down asap and be one of the first!

Alongside Bayside, we will be pouring three other beers from Breakside. Expect the team from Breakside to be in house answering any questions you might have!

WHAT BREAKSIDE HAS TO SAY ABOUT BAYSIDE IPA:

"In the summer of 2023, the R&D team set out on a brief northern California road trip to taste what folks in Sacramento and Oakland were up to at the source. Bayside was born from that trip: we were wowed by the way that our friends were using the new-ish HBC 586 hop, and wanted to incorporate it into our beers more. After a few pilot batches, the beer went on to win the Gold Medal at the 2024 OBAs in the largest category in the history of the competition! One of the core values at Breakside is to draw inspiration from our fellow community of brewers, and Bayside is proof positive of why it is such an important part of our ethos and approach to brewing.

Bayside is on the ‘extra extra pale’ end of modern West Coast IPA. It drinks as light and crisp as a pIlsner, and the bitterness is firm but refined and delicate. The aroma jumps out of the glass with a full cornucopia of tropical, citrus, and stone fruits, as we use some New Zealand-grown Nelson Sauvin to amplify those notes with a rich hop spice and petrol note. Not every one of our IPAs is trending towards this end of the spectrum, but drinking Bayside, you’ll get a clear view of what the near future looks like for a lot of West Coast IPA."

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:

Breakside Bayside IPA - Gold medal IPA

Breakside The Sublime Helles - Helles lager

Breakside Turbomachinery - IPA brewed in collaboration with Beachwood

Breakside The Year Of Magical Thinking - A blend of barrel aged imperial stouts

Old Town Believe In Portland IPA - IPA benefitting various non-profits

MORE ABOUT OLD TOWN:

"Historic ties to Portland run deep within Old Town. Opening its doors as a family-run pizzeria in April of 1974, Old Town Pizza became a hub for like-minded people with a radical agenda. It stood as a beacon for the local community; a place to break bread and enjoy your neighbor. Over 40 years later, not much has changed in that regard. Built within the heart of the historic Old Town neighborhood, inside one of Portland's oldest standing buildings (The Merchant Hotel), Old Town Pizza & Brewing is a relic of past and present.

Adam Milne, a devoted Old Town Pizza customer, celebrated his ninth birthday at the restaurant and immediately fell in love. That experience stuck with him until 2003, when he purchased the downtown pizzeria from the Accuardi family. In 2008, Adam built a second location in the Northeast district of Portland, in his very own neighborhood, which would soon become Old Town Brewing. To compliment the rich historic build of the downtown pizzeria, the new location was constructed using reclaimed materials that circa'd the 1800-1900's, evoking an atmosphere of Northwest authenticity and sustainability. Three years later, OTB began filling its first tanks with beer. With a passion for community, it was only a matter of time before Milne discovered that same passion inside the beer community. This driving force has lead to two major expansions, a number of prominent awards, packaged beer, distribution, new jobs, and a deep obsession to make some of the world's best beer possible."

Very First Claudel Fest!

Belmont Station regular Claudel is finally getting his very own Beer Fest!

Claudel has been coming to Belmont Station for over ten years and we have always wanted to celebrate him with a draft list that really speaks to his beer taste!

If you have been here, you have probably seen him or hopefully have met him.

Claudel regularly prefers to drink bigger boozy beers, and so we asked him what he would like to showcase at his own festival if he were to have one. Claudel hand picked 5 of his favorite beers from our cellar and we are going to pour them all weekend long!

Come on down and try some and chat with Claudel himself!

GET TO KNOW CLAUDEL:

We sat down with Claudel and asked him a couple questions. Here is what he had to say.

Belmont Station: You are such a long time regular. But how long have you been coming to Belmont Station?

Claudel: 24 years

Belmont Station: Obviously the beer is always top notch here. But what makes Belmont Station so special to you?

Claudel: The people!

Belmont Station: I know it's a hard question. But if you could choose just ONE, what would be your desert island beer?

Claudel: Boneyard Notorious

Belmont Station: I know you love cars. But what else do you like to do in your free time?

Claudel: Gaming

Belmont Station: Everyone here are really into movies. They go hand in hand with a favorite beer. So what is your favorite movie?

Claudel: Polar Express

Stone Circle Cider Tasting and Spiced Holiday Mulled Cider On Draft!

Stone Circle Cider is based just outside of Portland in Estacada, Oregon. They produce traditional English style ciders with some of the best ingredients found in the Pacific Northwest. As they say, you can't make great wine with table grapes and the same goes for ciders. That's why they use a blend of English bittersweet apples with American heirloom apples in all of their ciders.

During the Holiday Season, Stone Circle makes a very special spiced mulled cider. This cider is hot, sweet, spicy, and boozy. It's everything a winter drink should be. They take their dry cider and infuse cinnamon, ginger, whole cloves, star of anise, and lemon juice. All you need to do is add brown sugar and serve warm for the perfect addition to any holiday celebration. We will be doing the leg work on this night by serving this very special drink in the bar for you! Come warm your hands with a glass of it and see for yourself what the Holidays in a glass is all about!

In the bottle shop, Stone Circle will be tasting out the rest of their ciders for free. You can then purchase cans to take home with you as well as a jug of the mulled cider if you would like!

AVAILABLE TO TASTE IN THE BOTTLE SHOP:

Farmhouse Dry - Traditional "scrumpy" dry cider

Blackberry Sage - Dry cider with blackberry and sage

Sour Pear - Tart Perry style cider

Farmhouse Sweet - Traditional semi sweet cider

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:
