"Our story begins with a vision: In the early 2010s, local arborist and entrepreneur Luke was seeking a way to make a bigger impact in the Astoria community. Luke entertained several different ideas, but none quite fit the vision he had of bringing people together and celebrating the local culture.

During this time, Luke had a client named Dan who had a successful home brewery operation in Seaside. After enjoying Dan’s Lager recipes that he had been perfecting for more than 40 years, Luke began tossing around the idea of a brewery. He brought it up to Dan, suggesting he be the founding brewer. Our enthusiasm for West Coast IPA knows few bounds, and we have spent the last two or three years staying laser focused on where clear IPA-- Northwest, West Coast, American, or whatever subgenre of it you want to name -- has been and is going. Amazingly, after years of refining these beers, we are still as excited to try out new ideas, and we jumped at the opportunity to try something new when Belmont Station asked if we would brew a special batch for them. 

This is not a scale up of an existing small batch recipe. We went straight to the big brew- house with this one: stonefruit-forward Krush has become a staple of our hop repertoire in the last 18 months, but we have not tried pairing it with Citra very much. These two hops became fast friends in the pint-- Citra's soft citric notes are a great foil to the richer, almost overripe peach and mango notes from Krush. A dash of NZ-grown Nectaron brings some petrol, diesel, and a touch of melon to the whole affair. The beer leans more soft, juicy, and fruit-forward than resinous and bitter. Enjoy this fun iteration of modern West Coast IPA, and be sure to thank the crew at Belmont Station for their indefatigable support for creativity and innovation in local craft beer.

de Garde Brewing was founded by husband and wife duo Trevor and Lindsey Rogers in 2013. They specialize in barrel aging and using wild yeast from the Oregon Coast to make some of the most complex and sought after beers in the world. In fact, in 2016, they were awarded 5th best brewery in the world.

Most of their beers are aged from 6 months up to 5 YEARS!

However, before the beer goes into barrels and fruit is added at times, the wort of the beer gets put into a coolship. A cool ship is a large rectangular open-air storage unit where the beer can cool for 24-72 hours and pick up the naturally occurring microflora in the air resulting in spontaneous fermentation. de Garde uses special fans to direct the airflow in the brew house to sort of direct the natural occurring fermentation. And the end goal is to produce a very balanced acidity for their sour beers.

In 2017, de Garde announced that they are finally taking the steps to make wine. Something, Trevor and Lindsey wanted to do for a long time.

As of now, they have 4 wines available and you can try them at Belmont Station on Monday October 21st!

It wouldn't be October without celebrating Blocktoberfest! And seeing as we have Block 15 Distribution in house this month, we are bringing the party to Belmont Station!

Each year, Block 15 Brewing puts on a huge Oktoberfest party in Corvallis. We thought it would be awesome to have a mini version of that here and while doing so, showcasing the brands that Block 15 Distribution offers!

"Lambiek Fabriek is a lambic producer that was founded by Jo Panneels and Jozef Van Bosstraeten in 2016, and is located in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. The word “Fabriek” in the name stands for their original brew site in the “Fabriekstraat” in Ruisbroek (Sint-Pieters-Leeuw). The ram skull logo and the round shaped labels were specifically chosen to step away from the classic (paint stripe) labels on the market and thus to give Lambiek Fabriek its own identity. Another feature that represents Lambiek Fabriek’s identity on the market is that all the names of the products in their line-up end by “-Elle”."

WHAT IS LAMBIC?

Lambic is a Belgian beer that's brewed with wild yeast and raw wheat in wooden casks, and fermented for at least a year. It's a type of Belgian ale that's different from most other beers because it's fermented using wild yeasts and bacteria that are native to the Zenne valley, rather than cultivated brewer's yeast. This process gives lambic a distinctive flavor that's dry, vinous, and cider-like, with a tart aftertaste.

Ex Novo has found a new distribution home with Upstanding Distribution. And we are here to celebrate their move in a big way! Somewhat recently, Ex Novo also left Oregon to focus on New Mexico. However, they still distribute out here and the beers are still amazing as always.

Upstanding Distribution has some very unique cideries in their book. And we are very excited to show them off this night. For the first time ever, you can try these three amazing cideries under one roof.

Solid Ground is out of Diamond Springs California and they specialize in traditional lagers, dry ciders, and sparkling wine. They have teamed up with Upstanding to create a dry, rosé inspired cider that will be on draft for this event!

Helvetia Cider Company started in 1891 when the owners great-grandfather, a visionary and master craftsman, turned his hard work into a delicious hard cider. Today, they aim to bring a piece of history into every glass, honoring their families traditions while using state of the art pressing equipment and a dedicated fermentation facility to ensure that every cider that leaves the farm is the best.

Pinball Cider is a nomadic cider brand that bounces around across the PNW. With a palette for naturally fermented dry ciders, these ciders celebrate the unique characteristics of rare cider apples grown in hidden orchards throughout Washington and Oregon

We have a special evening this Friday with Xicha Brewing and Prairie Artisanal Ales!

Xicha Brewing (chee-chah) is the Pacific Northwest’s only Latinx brewery located in West Salem, Oregon. They aim to offer an inclusive, family-friendly cultural environment by creating community around high quality, fresh Latin American food and house-brewed European ales and lagers. Their goal is to honor Latin American traditions while constantly seeking out opportunities where those traditions creatively collide with new ideas. You can find out more about them HERE.

Prairie Ales technically started under the name Krebs Brewing in 1995. Krebs is the oldest brewery in Oklahoma! In 2012, Prairie Artisanal Ales was founded by two brothers who joined Krebs Brewing to make Prairie's first beer called "Prairie Ale", A Belgian style saison. In 2013, they brewed the first batch of Bomb!, Prairie's flagship imperial stout. And in 2016, Krebs and Prairie jointly became one and became the Prairie Ales we know today. Grand Fir is one of the newest brands to hit Upstanding's book and we are so stoked to be able to see them more frequently. Head Brewer and owner Whitney Burnside and her husband, chef and co-owner Doug Adams, will be here to answer all your questions and to celebrate the release of some classics and some fresh new beers.
